MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Registration:
Each member must register with MSLA using the online application. Each week the Mississippi Insurance Department provides MSLA with a listing of all newly licensed Surplus Lines Producers. When we receive this notification, we will send the link which will allow you to complete our on-line Agent/Agency application.

This notification of new agents happens on a weekly basis. In the event you do not receive the link for the on-line application, and you are newly licensed in Surplus Lines you may contact our office and speak with any of our agent representatives for further guidance.

Please note: Agents who have recently renewed their Surplus Lines license will not receive an email for registering as your information should already be on record with our office.

Producer Licensing:
MSLA does not handle producer licensing.

To apply/renew your Mississippi surplus lines license, go to: https://www.mid.ms.gov/mississippi-insurance-department/licensing/

Transferring Files:
If you are an agency’s designated surplus lines Reporting Producer, you are responsible for notifying MSLA, in writing, if upon your departure, your responsibilities for the surplus lines filings have been relinquished. MSLA will also need to be notified of an agency’s acquisition.

MSLA must receive a formal request to transfer policy data that has been reported in SLIP under one producer’s surplus lines license to another.

Please note: The transfer of business will not be completed until all outstanding balances for the current producing agent have been paid.
